Our Projects

The Denver Pen Women have started and participated in several art and literary projects involving our own local group, Colorado schools, and the entire United States.

We also have projects and perks exclusively for our members.

For our members:

We offer a small intensive critique group, where members meet outside of our regular monthly meeting. Members review each others pieces., and offer detailed feedback. The sessions last 8-weeks.

During each regular monthly meeting members who have signed up in advance, can have short works, or segments of larger works critiqued by other members.

The Blog Project was initiated in 2015. Several topics were given throughout the year to members who wrote poems or essays on one of the topics.

Outside projects

The Tapestry for Peace is a quilt that was created by Pen women branches, and other groups from all over the United States. Click the link to see the pieces of the quilt and to watch the video.

Poetry To Go is an annual contest for teens in the Denver metro area. Each author, age 13 to 19, may submit a short poem of up to eight or ten lines, plus title. Winning poems travel inside RTD buses throughout the seven-county Denver metro area. There is no fee to enter and no cash prizes awarded. The entry deadline is usually in mid-May. For current contest information, including how to submit entries, go to Columbine Poets of Colorado.

Annual Guest Critique. For aspiring authors of all genders we offer a yearly guest critique session. Guests are invited to attend a meeting, and read a short piece aloud to get instant feedback.
