Zoom Meeting Minutes

May 5, 2026

  1. The meeting was called to order at 9:38 a.m.
  2. Members present: Marion Mike, Risa Waldt, Linda Volin, Diane Chambers, Eleanor Binnings, Atlanta Sheridan, Denise Gard, Sue Luxa, Ann Klaiman, Kelly Ann Compton, Virginia Small (Webmistress)
  3. Guest present: Judy Gilman (For introduction only.)
  4. Inspirational Reading: Risa read a piece by Henry David Thoreau.
  5. Minutes: The April minutes were accepted and approved.
  6. Treasurer Report: Our current balance is $115.16.
    1. Denise feels the NLAPW dues situation where a person joining in January must pay full dues again in April is unfair. Diane, Linda, and Kelly Ann have been in contact with the national office regarding this matter.
  7. Committee Reports:
    1. Membership:
      1. The articles written by Diane and Marion have been accepted by three publications. It has been printed in Boulder’s Daily Camera. The article is in the hands of Colorado Life Magazine and will be printed in the Heritage Todd Creek newsletter.
      2. Craft shows held at Heritage Todd Creek will take place on July 11, August 22, and September 19. These will be held outside from 8:00 – 12:00. Their October 10th Holiday Craft Bazaar will be held indoors from 9:00-2:00.
    2. Programs:
      1. May—An interactive presentation on Character Development facilitated by Marion.
      2. June—We will view the Tapestry for Peace video.
      3. July—No meeting
      4. August—Two possible videos.
      5. The September meeting will be moved to September 12th due to the first Saturday being on Labor Day Weekend.
      6. Program suggestions: Writers’ prompts, Artists—write to their art, writing memoir, writing to classic pieces of art
    3. More on the craft fairs held at Heritage Todd Creek:
      1. Address: 8455 Heritage Drive, Thornton, CO 80602, off Quebec at E470.
      2. The summer craft fairs have no participation fee. We do need a table and tent. Marion says she has access to those.
      3. The October craft fair is a huge one. It costs $20/table.
    4. Zoom: Zoom is running well.
    5. Website:
      1. No serious problems. It is running smoothly.
      2. Diane get Bluehost email regarding not losing our domain.
      3. Denise has her own website and asked if our domain is up to date. It is.
    6. Historian: No report. Sue needs a copy of the Daily Camera article.
    7. Critique Group: Meets on alternating Fridays. Yesterday, they critiqued a memoir and a work of fiction. Our current members include Eleanor, Rachel, Marion, Karen, Atlanta, and Kelly Ann. We have room for two more people.
    8. Elections: We are still looking for a volunteer to be our branch president. Atlanta and Kelly Ann will send out a request for president volunteer every other month.
    9. It was decided that we should send cards to sick members. Marion volunteered for this.
  8. National News: Zoom meeting will be on Wednesday, May 6.
  9. The meeting was adjourned at 10:32.

Following the business meeting, Marion led an interactive discussion on character development.
