If you’re a writer in the Denver metro area, you’re invited to present your manuscript/s on Saturday, March 3, 2012. You’ll receive free professional feedback and publishing suggestions from members of The National League of American Pen Women, one of the first and most prestigious women’s arts organizations in the nation.

This annual NLAPW event will be from 10 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and includes a free lunch. There’s a limit of 8 guest presenters, so please respond soon.

Historical society launches essay contest

The Lakewood Historical Society seeks original essays of no more than 3,000 words on topics related to the history of the City of Lakewood, Colorado. All interested persons may enter this contest. A 1st Prize of $300 will be awarded to the top essay by an adult (age 20 and above) and by a youth (age 19 and under). A 2nd Prize of $200 will also be awarded in each category. Accompanying photos and illustrations, recent or historic, are encouraged. Credits and/or bibliography are required. Poetry to Go ceases operation

On November 5, 2011, the board of the Poetry Society of Colorado voted to relinquish involvement with Poetry to Go. With that action, the 2012 contest is cancelled, and PTG finds itself in need of a new sponsoring, non-profit organization. Poetry to Go, founded in 2000 by the Denver Branch, NLAPW, is a contest for teen authors in the Denver metro area. For more details, click on Poetry to Go in the menu bar, above. Alzheimer’s Association features book by Patricia Cox
