I have always fancied myself a writer, but only after retirement has it become my passion. I graduated with a BS in Elementary Education from Texas Christian University in Ft. Worth, Texas and came immediately to teach sixth grade for the Denver Public Schools at University Park Elementary School. During this time, I earned my MA in Guidance and Counseling from the University of Denver.
I retired to raise three daughters who have generously repaid me by producing eleven grandchildren. I returned to teaching upper elementary grades at Homestead Elementary School for the Cherry Creek Schools where I sponsored their Student Literary Magazine.
After another retirement, I worked as Parish Coordinator for Wellshire Presbyterian Church for four years. I have been published in Anthology of Contemporary Poetry, and have written several articles for The Phoenix.
After my husband died from Alzheimer’s, I wrote a memoir about our experiences with this devastating disease, We Keep Our Potato Chips in the Refrigerator, which is at all three Tattered Cover Book Stores. I write articles for Wellshire Presbyterian Newsletter and am currently teaching memoir writing classes for the University of Denver’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute and The Academy of Lifelong Learning.
I’m delighted to be a member of The National League of American Pen Women and to associate with such accomplished writers. For more information, go to www.pennedbypatricia.com.
